The Shemer Service Process
Unlike a car service, which typically involves an oil and filter change, a mechanical watch service is a far more intricate and meticulous process.
An automatic wristwatch is in constant motion, ticking at 60 seconds per minute, 60 minutes per hour, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Unlike a vehicle that may be used only a few hours daily, a watch movement operates continuously, resulting in significant wear over time making servicing essential.
A professional service is therefore essential to preserve performance, accuracy, and longevity.
The Shemer Servicing Process
Every watch entrusted to us undergoes a comprehensive and highly specialized procedure:
Disassembly
The movement is carefully removed from the case, and the dial and hands are detached.
Complete Movement Breakdown
The entire movement is meticulously dismantled into its individual components.
Cleaning
Each component is cleaned in specialized solutions to remove oils, dust, and microscopic impurities.
Drying & Inspection
All parts are thoroughly dried and examined for condition and integrity.
Reassembly & Lubrication
The movement is expertly reassembled, with precise lubrication applied where required.
Adjustment & Regulation
The watchmaker calibrates the movement in accordance with the brand's specific accuracy standards.
Case & Bracelet Refinement (on request)
The case and bracelet are professionally cleaned and, if needed, polished.
Re-casing
The restored movement is carefully reinstalled into the case.
Precision Testing
The watch is regulated again once cased to ensure it is performing optimally.
Cycling & Performance Monitoring
The watch is placed on a mechanical testing device, called a cyclomat, for a minimum of 24 hours to monitor the watches accuracy and performance under simulated wearing conditions.
Important Considerations
During servicing, if any components are found to be excessively worn or damaged, replacement may be required. In such cases, we will provide a detailed quotation for approval before proceeding.
Please note that sourcing specific parts, particularly from international manufacturers, may extend turnaround times, in some cases up to approximately 8 weeks.
In the instance of vintage timepieces, while every effort is made to source components, certain spare parts may no longer be available and we may be unable to restore your watch.
Our Commitment
Each serviced timepiece is returned with a 12-month service guarantee, ensuring confidence in the craftsmanship and care invested in your watch.
